Additional Info | Denmark: Italy "had informed the Contracting Parties in May [1955] of their desire to renegotiate under Article XXVIII certain items which had been bound at Torquay, among which were certain types of cheese bound to Denmark." Talks took place but were unfinished and it was agreed they would continue, but Italy "carried out the increases in the tariff rates about which they were still negotiating. This seemed a breach of the procedures laid down in Article XXVIII." Italy was willing to continue negotiating, and an agreement was concluded in November [1955] and settled by means of an exchange of letters between the two delegations. He proposed that the Contracting Parties consider the item as settled. Italy: had been obliged to take certain customs action due to internal policy. The Contracting Parties noted the settlement of the item. |
