| Additional Info | L/5042 (20/10/1980) Japan's Measures on Imports of Leather - Report of the Panel: The Panel examined the compatibility with the General Agreement of Japanese restrictions on imports of leather. In a joint communication dated 6 October 1980 the parties advised that they had now successfully concluded their bilateral consultations and had signed a Record of Discussions on 22 September 1980 containing a solution to the dispute and a statement that Canada would be withdrawing the complaint filed under Article XXIII:2. "In view of the fact that the agreement reached between Canada and Japan constitutes a solution to the matter before it, the Panel considers the proceedings under Article XXIII:2 to be terminated." SCM/W/48 (11/05/1983) Negotiating History of Article 18.9 and the Treatment of Reports of Working Parties and Panels under Article XXIII of the General Agreement - SCM Committee - Factual Note by the Secretariat: Reported as an Article XXIII complaint. "Council report adopted on 10 November 1980 notes that Canada and Japan agreed on a solution to the matter." Note: The Report of the Panel (L/5042) reported a mutually agreed solution. |
